Born in 1995 in South Korea, Hyunji Kim is currently based in Paris. She is pursuing the Diplôme d’Artiste Interprète in classical piano performance at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris (CNSMDP). Prior to that, she studied with Hortense Cartier-Bresson for her Master’s degree in classical piano performance at CNSDMP. During this program, Hyunji Kim was a France Excellence scholarship holder, granted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France which fully funded her studies. Before arriving in France, she studied with Hie-yon Choi at the Seoul National University. In June 2022, Hyunji Kim has been invited by Murray Perahia for his Beethoven masterclasses followed by a concert in Munich, organised by the prestigious music publishing house G. Henle Verlag.

After her first concert at the age of 13 with the National Symphony Orchestra of Seoul, Hyunji Kim has been performing internationally: Musée National des Arts Asiatiques Guimet, La Scala Paris, Archives Nationales de Paris, Musée de la vie romantique, Théâtre de l’Alliance française à Paris, Église Américaine de Paris, Kawai France, Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, Château de la Petite Malmaison, Auditorium de la Louvière, Mozarteum Wiener Saal, City Hall of Maiori, French embassy in Seoul, and so on. She is also part of the Académie Musicale Philippe Jaroussky for the 2021/2022 season where she received advice from David Kadouch and gave concerts at the Seine Musicale. For the same season, she participated in the radio broadcast Génération France Musique.

As a soloist, Hyunji Kim is a prizewinner of numerous piano competitions in Korea and internationally, such as Concours d’Epinal, Concours des Nuits Blanches, and Concours International d’Île-de-France where she had the Second Prize and the Special Prize from the Association Frédéric Chopin de Lyon. Under the aegis of the latter, she is invited for their 2022/2023 season to perform at the Salle Molière, Lyon, where she will give a solo recital dedicated to Chopin.

Hyunji Kim is also passionate about performing period instruments and chamber music. She gave several pianoforte concerts and has been receiving advice from Daria Fadeeva. As a chamber musician, Hyunji Kim develops close collaborations with several artists such as Anny Chen (violinist at the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France), with whom she created a violin-piano duo in 2019. While giving concerts as a duo, they have been studying with Emmanuel Strosser. Further, from 2022/2023, Hyunji Kim is also pursuing the Master’s degree in Piano Accompanying class of Jean-Frédéric Neuburger, as well as the Master’s degree in Pianoforte class of Daria Fadeeva, both at CNSMDP.
